It is powered by a twin-plug 3.0L flat- six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission that was built by Einars Garage in Seabrook, TX . It just works really well, and gives it that 60s Hot Rod Magazine cover photo look. The paint is smooth and nice, as is the top, and this car benefited from extensive restoration which included new top-seamed quarter panels, real light panel, both doors and both fenders, getting rid of the demons a lot of these old Camaros can have. The Rally wheels with raise white letters finish it off, and the added Rally Sport package seals the deal. Things are in good order under the hood. The 327 V8 and 4-speed manual transmission are claimed to be numbers matching, however the block was decked during machining rendering the stamping illegible. Headers and a 4-barrel aluminum intake with Holley carb help it sing as only a small block Chevy can. Power brakes and steering make it easy to drive. The red bucket seat console interior are vintage Camaro all the way, baby. Things look very correct inside, and a set of under dash gauges helps keep an eye on things. Now for sale in our Gateway Classic Cars of Houston showroom is this beautiful 1970 Dodge Challenger! This beast is powered by a 340 CID V8 6-pack that was rebuilt 4800 miles ago. The 3-speed 904 TorqueFlight transmission was rebuilt even more recently than the engine, covering only about 1000 miles since being done. The 8:34 rear end features 3:23 gears and has also been rebuilt about 1000 miles ago. The exterior is finished in a stunning blue code PB3 paint which brings out the amazing body lines of this classic Mopar machine. The car has received an entirely new A/C and heating system from vintage air. All new March Performance Serpentine drive kit, new MSD ignition system, new radio, new Dakota digital dash, new digital tail lights, new disc brakes in the front, new dash pad. The car has been very well cared for and it’s very obvious when you look around the car. It was one of two Chrysler E-body cars, the other being the slightly smaller Plymouth Barracuda. Both the Challenger and Barracuda were available in a staggering number of trim and option levels and were intended to compete against cars like the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang, and to do it while offering virtually every engine in Chryslers inventory. The performance model was the R/T (Road/Track), with a 383 cu in (6.28 L) Magnum V8, rated at 335 bhp; 300 bhp for 1971, due to a drop-in compression. The standard transmission was a 3-speed manual. Optional R/T engines were the 375 bhp 440 cu in (7.2 L) Magnum, the 390 bhp 440 CID Six-Pack and the 425 bhp 426 cu in (7.0 L) Hemi. The R/T was available in either the hardtop or convertible. The Challenger R/T came with a Rallye instrument cluster that included a 150-mph speedometer, an 8,000 rpm tachometer, 1972–1974 tachometer went to 7,000 rpm and an oil pressure gauge. In 1972, the R/T badging was dropped and these models were called Rallye, although they were never badged as such. The Rallye model featured a faux brake vent on the fenders. The shaker hood scoop was not available after 1971. The same year this car rolled off the assembly line the worlds first jumbo-jet, the Boeing 747, has its first commercial flight on January 22nd of 1970. The 1969 Camaro marked the last of the first generations and is arguably the most popular. It featured entirely new, more aggressive looking sheet metal and revised grille. Going away was the coke bottle shape, making room for a flatter, wider looking stance. The Camaro was available in many different configurations, from a standard Sport Coupe, a rubber melting Super Sport, or a track-ready Z/28. The SS was The One with a Name Like the Hiss of a Snake. Big power, special 3-speed transmission, sport striping, heavy insulated hood. Hiding under the stock SS hood on this Hugger Orange beauty is a beast of a V8! Where a salty 350 once sat now resides a NEW 434 cubic inch Nye’s racing engine that starts out with a Dart little M block with all forged internals, solid roller comp cam #12-990-9. Topping off the power house is a set of AFR eliminator 220 cylinder heads that help bump the compression ratio to 13.1:1. Providing the spark needed is a DUI distributor that has been built specifically for this engine setup. Only 700 miles have been put on this engine so it has tons of life left and is just starting to come to life! No expense was spared on any aspect of the restoration of this car! Transferring the power to the rear of the car is the same 3-speed automatic that came in the car from the factory but the only part that hasn’t been upgraded is the exterior case of the transmission. The body and paint are excellent with an impressive panel fit. Making it truly a car that needs to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. The black interior was definitely not overlooked during the restoration. When you are lucky enough sit behind the steering wheel you will notice the factory console gauges have been replaced with upgraded aftermarket gauges. The main reason for the upgrade is to have better accuracy while monitoring the vitals of the car. Helping get the power to the ground is the 12 bolt rear-end that houses a set of 4.10 gears. At all four corners there are Ralley wheels with new trim rings wrapped in BFGoodrich radial tires. And last but not least this car comes with ALL of the original parts that have been upgraded or replaced during the restoration. This includes but is not limited to the numbers matching 350 V8, Air Conditioning setup, power steering as well as the 3.31 gears that were replaced wit the 4.10s. Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is excited to show off this 1970 Chevrolet Corvette LT1! It was 1970, the year when monster big-blocks arrived from GM, so it took something very special to attract respect if you wanted the nimble prowess of a small block. Chevrolet did just that in RPO LT1 Corvettes like the one offered here. The LT1 was the latest iteration of the venerated small-block V-8 that had shown up in 1955, and this 350 CI powerplant would go down in history as one of the most desirable packages to own. In 1970 only, the engine received a factory rating of 370 HP and 380 lb-ft of torque, due in large part to 11:1 compression, a large 780-Cfm Holley carb, a solid-lifter cam outfit, and transistorized ignition. The internals was all heavy-duty, with a forged crank and 4-bolt mains. The company sold 1,287 LT1 Corvettes, a scarcity due in part to a short production season and the high $447.60 cost, more than $140 above the price of a new 454. Moreover, this version lasted just one year, with detuning and lower compression being part of the 1971 follow-up. The car hire has been given a comprehensive refreshing to correct specifications. Purchased new at Surf Chevrolet in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, LT1 packages were too wild for a factory automatic that year. This coupe is painted in rich Donnybrooke Green with a corresponding green interior and tinted T-tops. It has both power windows and the AM radio, as well as the 160 MPH speedometer and a special 6,500 RPM redline tachometer. The finishing touch is 15-inch Rally wheels fitted with redline tires. Provenance accompanying the sale of this car will include the factory Protect-O-Plate, the framed partial tank sticker, and the original owners manual. The LT1 has been noted on occasion to have been the small-block Chevrolet introduced during the 20th century, and this car offers terrific possibilities to its next owner. All original glass. One of the most notable features is the transformation from a rumble seat into an operable trunk lid. You would be hard pressed to find another 36 5 window with this custom treatment. The eye catching blue paint is a one year only 2002 Volkswagen Aquarius Blue. It certainly looks period correct but with a little pop. The restoration is top notch thanks to a seasoned car builder and a solid body. This 36 is still using all of its original sheet metal! The top was filled, the trunk was heavily modified by removing the rumble seat and precise cutting to create a trunk, custom headlights, tail lights, bumpers and firewall. Underneath is just as impressive and features a Mustang II designed front suspension with upper and lower control arms with power rack and pinion steering. Power front disc and rear drums make for easy braking. The polished stainless steel 18-gallon fuel tank looks beautiful. Power comes from a mild 1970 350 small block Chevy and sends the power through a TH-350 automatic transmission and back to an open rear diff with 2.75:1 gears. Ford had the foresight to designate MACH-1 and the engine type in the VIN, and we have the Marti Report showing it was built February 17, 1971. It is 1 of only 160 made with these paint & trim codes, and 1 one of 177 built with this engine and transmission. It was built with the convenience group, power steering, rim-blow deluxe steering wheel, sport deck rear seat, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, AM radio, tinted glass, in dash tachometer, and Firestone Wide-Ovals. It remains in its original colors of White on Blue Clarion vinyl interior. 1971 was the beginning of the end for high compression muscle cars. Fords 429 Cobra Jet (non-ram-air) had some pretty impressive numbers with 11.3-1 compression, 370 horsepower, 450 ft. lbs of torque, a high-rise intake, and header style exhaust manifolds. Bottom line is there is plenty of power on tap to propel this far-out fastback down the road. And the nice thing is, it was clearly well cared for inside and out, and still looks factory under hood.
