Description:

In the heyday of the muscle car, Goats and Birds equipped with Ram Air powerplants literally flew off the dealer lots and onto dragstrips and street-racing venues across the country. Tuners and hobbyists alike routinely messaged the cylinder heads to raise compression, installed a lumpy 31/44 racing cam, and bolted on a set of headers and performance mufflers to extract every ounce of the engine’s potential. The decade and technology may have changed, but hobbyists continue to employ the same tried-and-true tricks. Example 2,000 WS6 T/A. With 450 rwhp and show-quality paint and detailing, this T/A is an accurate representation of what can be accomplished with careful research and a commitment to detail. This 2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 Convertible has a four-speed automatic transmission with electric overdrive & a monstrous 5.7-liter V-8 that would power half of Disneyland. This Firebird TA pumps out 320 horsepower at 5200 rpm to move this 3536-lb baby. The WS6 performance and handling package that includes a ram air induction system, five-spoke 17-inch wheels, grippy speed-rated radials, low-restriction dual outlet exhausts, a specially-tuned suspension and a power steering cooler that does nothing to chill your ardor behind the wheel. The coolers main function is to bring down the operating temperature of the power steering fluid though the somewhat truck feel to the steering wheel would seem to preclude its necessity. Like all low-slung sports cars, the Firebird, with 4.5 in of ground clearance, the back seat is very roomy, while the front seats are racing-style, power-adjustable six-way lumbar-support buckets that can take you cross-country as comfortably as any luxury touring car. Don’t be budget-conscious, remember youll have to feed this puppy with high-priced 91-octane fuel. Fuel economy is rated at 18 city, 27 highways. The TA has a package that includes interior controls, trim and features such as cupholders and remote radio buttons on the steering wheel. The traction control system (TCS) that comes on automatically every time you start the car, is activated by a push-button near the dash. Limiting wheel spins - easy to accomplish with this Trans Am model - it goes into action by closing the throttle and managing engine spark. If youre in cruise control when you start to slip, the TCS will automatically disengage it. Brakes, of course, are powerful and ready to perform, vented discs in front, power-assist in back, coupled with an ABS system. I found the suspension system very solid. It has front tubular stabilizer bars with links, gas-charted shocks, and a 30-mm stabilizer bar, while in the back are a Salisbury axle with torque arm, trailing arm, track bar, coil springs, and a 19-mm stabilizer bar. All practically guaranteed to give you a firm, safe ride. As popular as Trans Am are, its generous of Pontiac to include as standard equipment a Passkey II theft deterrent system, along with a theft alarm. No muscle car is worth its salt without a truly splendid audio system, and Firebird delivers with a Delco radio and CD player with a 500-watt Monsoon ten-speaker stereo with tape player and seven-band equalizer poured into the atmosphere by ten speakers. I’d rate this car a 10 out of 10. To view the car in greater detail, including 100+ HD photos and HD video, please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com. For more information please call the Fort Lauderdale showroom at 954-227-4202 or email us at Fortlauderdale@GatewayClassicCars.com.

For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a Maroon Metallic Beauty: A 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7 convertible. This is a very well optioned Cougar XR7, and as it turns out is 1 of 21 produced in the same color and trim package per the Marti report. The suggested retail price back in 1971 on this Cougar XR7 convertible was $5,350.00, not a cheap car for 1971! This Cougar is finished in a beautiful shade of Maroon Metallic that looks fantastic against the white vinyl interior and white convertible top. Powering the Cougar is a 351 CID V8 engine with an automatic transmission transferring the power to the pavement. One unique feature in the interior is the factory tachometer and rally gauges. They provide a sporty appearance and are a very nice add to this already classy interior. The odometer reads 16,808, but the actual mileage is unknown. Options for this 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7 convertible include: AM/FM Radio with CD Player (in console), Air Conditioning (inoperable), Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Automatic Convertible Top, Wire Spoke Hub Caps, and White Wall Radial Tires. Description:

For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our Saint Louis Showroom is a first-year first-generation Ford Thunderbird painted in a rare Goldenrod Yellow with a white soft top, white hardtop with black and white two-toned interior. Powering this classic is a 292-cubic inch V8, the only available engine for 1955. This one is equipped with a manual 3 speed transmission and optional over drive. The over drive is a neat unit. Once in 3rd gear and youre ready, pull the T handle beneath the dash and youre in! Other equipment includes power seats, wide white wall radial tires and a white hardtop. To add some personal touches, the previous owner decided to paint the hard-top white as opposed to keeping it body color as the factory would have painted it. The soft top is also white which would have been black fabric from the factory. These personal touches give the car a unique look and help it stand out from other 55 Thunderbirds. This is easily reversible if someone chooses. Recent maintenance includes new tires, new clutch and a rebuilt carburetor. In 1955 Ford introduced the Thunderbird to knock a dent into Corvette sales. Ford accomplished this with flying colors. 1955 Corvette production reached 700 units compared to Fords whopping 16,155! Chevrolet needed some serious help if they were going to save the Corvette. Eventually, Ford decided to lean more towards the luxury side and away from the performance side that the Corvette was pursuing. The Thunderbird has had a long and interesting run over the years. However, theres no mistaking the first run of the 1955 through 1957 T-Birds. They are the most collectible of any Thunderbird and will always be the most collectible. These hard and soft top equipped Thunderbirds are very cool, giving you the coupe and convertible feel all in one car. Call our Saint Louis showroom for more information on this early T-bird at 618-271-3000 or email STL@gatewayclassiccars.com. To view HD photos and video, visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com

Description:

Our Detroit Showroom is proud to offer this amazing 1969 Buick GS 400 Stage 1. The Stage 1 was a bit of a humble legend in the muscle car world when it arrived. Although its GM brethren motor divisions were producing cars like GTO, Chevelle SS and 4-4-2’s, that didnt mean Buick was standing pat. In fact, the GS 400 got standard functional hood scoops for 69, something none of its higher-profile corporate siblings had. The Cool Air induction system used a twin-snorkel air cleaner with two foam muffs that sealed against the scoop openings. Some local circles even dubbed the car “The Judge Killer”. New for 1969 were the Stage 1 and Stage 2 options on these iconic muscle cars. Stage 1 boosted output to 345 bhp. It had a high-lift cam, 11.0:1 compression instead of 10.25:1, a special carburetor and fuel pump, and larger low-restriction exhausts. Currently under the hood is a Stage 1 400 which appears to be the #s matching engine, that has been completely rebuilt with invoices on the overhaul. The Protect-O- Plate is included with this Buick and it also includes the dealer copy of the order sheet. Power is paired to a TH400 floor mounted automatic and spins the Posi rear end to translate power to pavement. This GS 400 Stage 1 is only 1 of 832 automatic’s ever built and with power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning it makes this muscle car a blast to drive. You can confidently drive this Buick anywhere although its main use was as a fair-weather cruiser. The GS 400 Stage 1 is dressed in white with a white vinyl top which accents all of the chrome with a touch of luxury and class. The interior is a place of comfort just as Buick intended and provides great options like tilt wheel and extremely comfortable bucket seats with a console. Buick rallyes look mirror like and the clock is just about the only thing not working on this beauty. If you’ve been looking for an iconic muscle car that you can drive and enjoy, this is likely your best candidate. Check it out at www.GatewayClassicCars.com or call to speak with one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales staff at 313.982.3100. Email us at Detroit@GatewayClassicCars.com for more information.

Description:

The Atlanta Showroom is offering this 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible for sale. This is an owner stated numbers matching car with 50,435-miles on the 350 cu engine rated at 190-hp, with a 4-speed manual. She will come with records from the previous 3 owners, as well as receipts, all contained in a 3-ring binder. She has a new convertible top, rear calipers, and new brake lines. The car was repainted some time ago, and still shows well. The Corvettes specialty is clearly stated on its invitation. No other production sports car is so smooth and manageable at its limits and none will cover for the drivers mistakes as quickly and easily as will the Corvette. It understeers but only a little considering the power it has on tap. And the on-and-off power and the straight-to-curve transitions are gradual and smooth. Consequently, it is a very quick car over the road, faster than any other at the same price. Its comfortable. Everybody fits into the cockpit except for the very tall. The controls are a pleasure to use. But more than anything else, the Corvettes composure in high-speed touring situations must be credited to the design. Options include: posi-traction rear end, power steering, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a/c, am/fm radio, leather interior, rally wheels, radial tires, and the optional luggage rack. To view the car in greater detail, including 100+ HD photos and HD video, please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com. For more information please call the Atlanta showroom at 678-894-4833. If you are looking for a classic Mercedes with a great history, low miles, and in excellent shape it is difficult to find something better than this 1981 380SL! Purchased brand new by the current owner’s parents in 1981, this car was picked up directly from the Stuttgart plant in Germany and was driven through the country-side before being shipped back to California where it remained for most of its life. The original blue paint still looks great after all these years and pairs very well with the tan interior that looks like it was hardly used. Topping it all off the original drive train only has 35,974 miles on it and has been maintained closely since it was new. Within the last couple of years maintenance included a set of new tires and a tune up. Once behind the wheel of this 380SL, you will be amazed at nice everything has held up for almost 40 years! The 3.8L V8 fires up quickly with the turn of a key and purrs nicely at idle. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly between gears, the steering is tight, and the suspension offers a smooth ride. This 1981 Mercedes 380SL is the best of all worlds and may be an excellent option if you are looking for something that has a lot of room for appreciation while still loving it and enjoying it! Description:

Check out this beautifully restored 1950 Chevrolet 2 door sedan that we have here in our Tampa Showroom. By 1950 Chevrolet was just starting to create some all new automotive designs with only mild changes being made from before the war up until 1949. The goal was to make a personal vehicle with the focus on comfort and luxury and they delivered just that. The high roof line and narrower fenders made for a handsome design while delivering plenty of passenger comfort. Though originally equipped with a meager 6 cylinder this bow-tied beauty has been properly upgraded to provide you with plenty of power and comfort. Features on this upgraded 2 door sedan have made it more of a resto-mod with keeping an original styled interior and exterior while adding a Chevrolet 355 cubic inch V8 with a TH-350 automatic transmission. Power steering helps steer this classic better than most others on the road today. The interior is done very nicely in a tan/brown color to match the exterior rootbeer and cream color combination. This is an awesome classic that will be sure to bring you years of enjoyment down the road. To see 100+ HD pictures and videos of this 1950 Chevrolet 2 Door Sedan please visit GatewayClassicCars.com. For sale in our Fort Lauderdale showroom is this beautiful 1975 Triumph TR6 that is in great condition. TR6’s are one of the most sought after British sport cars on the market today. They are still affordable today and the TR6 series is a great investment. With a steady climbing value, the right time has come to make one your own before they get too expensive. The one that we have for sale in our South Florida showroom is the one you want. This Triumph is in great condition, beautiful inside and out. The car was recently repainted and looks fantastic in it’s orange color. It isn’t a secret that classic cars like to rust. There is no reason to be worried with this one. The body is in fantastic condition. We checked the whole sheet metal and there are no signs that this TR6 was ever involved in any collision. Our magnet sticks everywhere like glue and the body lines up like in 75’. Let’s continue and jump in the driver’s seat. You will be amazed how clean the inside is. There are no cracks, rips or any other damage. Everything looks great including the carpet and the wooden dashboard. Turn the key and the real fun begins. The inline 6 cylinder sounds like it is just broken in and has enough power to let your cheeks flap in the wind. Of course, the old British sports car is shifted by a 4 speed manual transmission. It is just fun to drive this TR6. Just one peak in the clean engine compartment will tell the story of this car. This roadster has always been in good hands and well taken care of. There is only one problem with this car, it needs a new owner that will continue to take good care of her. She is ready to go and it is a must see.
