Description:

Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to present a collection of gas dragsters Gassers for sale in our Indianapolis showroom. This one, Slimer, is a 1941 Willys coupe fiberglass body on a custom frame powered by a 355 Chevrolet engine driving through a 400 Turbo transmission. It is a C/Gas dragster with a 9 Ford Posi rear end with a 3.83:1 ratio. It has seat belts, leather racing seats, and Cragar wheels. Since it is a street or strip vehicle, it features an AM/FM CD player. Here is some history for those who would like background on this exciting style of dragster. The term Gasser refers to a style of drag race car that was prolific in the late 1950s through the 1960s that ran on gasoline as fuel, as opposed to race fuel. These cars typically competed in heads up drag races that were classed by engine size and car weight. In the faster classes the cars used a straight axle front suspension that produced the intimidating stance that gassers are known for. Easily recognized by common features like the higher front end stance that was developed as a means of weight transfer to the rear wheels for traction, this style became popular later as builders attempted to achieve a traditional or nostalgic race look. These cars became fan favorites as the well-known racers began to run grudge matches for higher purses. In no time these matches were the top billing at many shows due to the crowd entertainment factor. Gassers were the top drag racing classes in the period that is now referred to as the gasser war years, which ranged from 1955 through 1968.In addition to the straight axle, most gassers also sported Halibrand wheels, no front bumper, and had a front mounted Moon tank. The gasser form was dictated by function and most builders looked to eliminate as much weight as possible. Having their exhaust pipes exit through the front fender to shorten the length of exhaust tubing is another common characteristic of gassers. Builders used 1930s through 1950s production coupes or sedans to create these highly modified racing vehicles. The most common base vehicles were Willys coupes, Austin and Anglia sedans, and the Chevy Tri-Five cars. Late model cars were not allowed in the Gas classes until 1967, and the gas classes were totally eliminated by NHRA in 1972. They run today all over the United States and down under in Australia and New Zealand in vintage and nostalgia drags. To view this gas dragster, please visit our site at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, call 317-688-1100, or email us at indy@gatewayclassiccars.com. Description:

Now for sale in our Houston Showroom is this beautiful 1965 Chevrolet Corvette. 1965 was the year 4-wheel disc brakes were introduced to the C2 Corvette. This car has a very nice Rally Red paint that is in great condition. The car is powered by a rebuilt 327 CID V8 to L79 specs. Listening to it idle is a treat, never mind winding it through all four gears. The completely rebuilt 4-speed Muncie M20 transmission sends the twist to a set of 3.36 gears with a PosiTrac differential. The 3.36 ratio provides both highway friendliness and good torque multiplication, making this Vette very street friendly and peppy to drive. Both the engine & the transmission were rebuilt a little over 8k miles ago. The four-wheel disc brakes really improve its stopping distances, too. This Corvette rides on classic period-correct knock-off style aluminum wheels that are wrapped in fairly new 205/70/14 black wall radials. The car has been subjected to an exhaustive cosmetic and mechanical restoration. The fiberglass prep was expertly done with the surfaces sanded to near perfection. The gaps were expertly aligned and the Rally Red paint was finished with a two-stage urethane. In addition, all the chrome was restored, the stainless spent time with a buffing wheel, and the shiny rocker trim looks new. A bright white convertible top was installed in January 2017. The interior of the car is in great condition and ready for a new owner to get behind the wheel. The black vinyl seats are in like new condition and have very little wear. To see all the HD pictures and video please go to http://gatewayclassiccars.com/houston/1965/chevrolet/corvette-S838.html. By adding a Kenne Bell Super Charger, Kooks headers, and full Kooks exhaust to the stock 6.2L LS3 V8 engine the horsepower rating jumped from 426 to 660 horsepower! A six-speed manual transmission transfers the 600+ horses to the rear end. A new suspension including sport springs was added to provide the ultimate handling experience. This Camaro sports the iconic white exterior paint with orange SS stripes to further perpetuate the retro look. Bringing this Camaro into the 21st century are the custom 22” Asanti wheels that have been painted white and orange, brilliantly matching the retro color scheme. The orange and black leather interior is in very good condition, it is just over 8 years old, but has only had 3,700 miles of usage. The odometer reads 3,711, which represents the actual mileage on the car. Description:

For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a beautiful 1932 Chevrolet Phaeton. The odometer on this 32 Phaeton reads 21,451 and is the actual mileage on this beautiful Phaeton. Starting with such a low mileage car, certainly makes for an easier and more precise restoration. Options for this 1932 Chevrolet Phaeton include: Manual Convertible Top, Vinyl Olive Interior, Manual Turn Signals, Windshield Wiper, Wide White Wall Bias Ply Tires, and Wire Wheels. Powering this Chevrolet Phaeton is a 3.2L Stove Bolt 6 cylinder engine, which is believed to be original to the car. It is a naturally aspirated engine that features 2 valves per cylinder and produces 60 horsepower. A 3 speed manual transmission transfers those horses to the rear end, which houses 4.10 gears. The Sage Green exterior, black fender and running boards and dual side mounts against the Tan top, Olive interior, and Red wire wheels with new Wide White Walls produce a very unique look that does not disappoint. The tan top and Olive vinyl interior are both in very good condition, free from any rips, tears, or serious wear. The Phaeton body style differs from a convertible in that it does not have a winding or sliding windows in the doors nor does it have a permanent, fixed roof. Due to the lack of a rigid or fixed roof, the Phaeton was much lighter than a convertible. The Phaeton body style was faded out after the convertible style became much more popular with its ability to be driven in all types of weather. To view this 1932 Chevrolet Phaeton in greater detail including 100 +HD pictures and an HD video visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Description:

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Pro-Street is the ultimate expression of high-performance, with race-grade equipment and show car looks. This car has the stance, and the attitude to back it up. The stunning black paint is show quality and is complimented by a set of very well done white racing stripes. Chrome bumpers fore and aft add some contrast, with dark-tinted windows to complete the look. There arent many cars that are more perfectly proportioned than the early Camaro, and the Pro-Street treatment on this one only enhances what is already a slam-dunk design. All of the car is steel with the exception of the hood and trunk lid car and hasnt been radically modified, although a few behind-the-scenes changes were definitely required to get those large meats under the rear fenders. If this were a full race piece, thered be a bare-bones interior with a single bucket. But in Pro-Street, full interiors are part of the package. High-back Procar buckets are upholstered in black leather, there are beautiful carpets on the floor, and the stock door panels keep with the classic look. In place of the rear seat is a set of fully upholstered wheel tubs that look like they were done to factory specs when the car was new. The original dashboard has been refinished, too, and now carries a beautiful set of Auto Meter Pro Comp gauges in the original pods ahead of the driver. But the crossover to race spec doesnt mean youre roughing it, because theres plenty of sound-deadening material inside. The floor mounted ratchet shifter manages a built TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, and a small diameter steering wheel fits the look. In back, the trunk is pretty much full of wheel tubs, a fuel cell, and a battery, and the workmanship of the install is very impressive. Youll get the picture when you open the hood and find a thundering 502 cubic inch big block sporting a Holley. Finished in more polished aluminum parts than youll find at a Goodguys show, its a street-legal piece that thinks it was built for the track. Theres a pair of ceramic coated long tube headers, and an MSD ignition in addition to all the stout goodies inside. The reinforced chassis carries a coil-over front suspension and a 4-link that carries a narrowed Ford 9” rear end with 4.11 gears inside, so nobody can accuse this of being a race-only piece. Wilwood disc brakes live at all four corners and the full exhaust system sounds simply spectacular. Rolling stock consists of Billet Specialties aluminum wheels with 165/80R15 radials up front and 31x18.5x15 Hoosier Quick Time meats out back. You can view this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com. The Tri-Five station wagons have become very popular over the years for collectors and enthusiast alike, especially ones restored to this level. This awesome 56 210 Handyman Wagon underwent an extensive 5 year restoration that was built to keep the classic styling yet add new technology for reliability and performance. Everything on this car was either replaced, refinished, or upgraded and the workmanship is outstanding. As many original parts were used as possible including all the stainless trim and chrome parts. This 1956 Chevrolet 210 Handyman Wagon is powered by a Fuel Injected 5.3L Vortec V8 engine, backed by a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission, running to a single-pull rear end with 3.56 gears. The fins on the hood mounted bird were also removed and the front and rear bumpers were changed to smoothies. The interior is also just as impressive with a two-tone red and grey theme throughout matching the exterior colors. The factory bench seats were retained and covered in leather as well as the door panels, the center line of the dash was marbleized for a custom touch, and a Dakota Digital gauge set was put in to monitor the vitals. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Detroit is proud to present this 1970 Dodge Challenger for sale. Absolutely stunning Black 1970 Dodge Challenger Rallye. Introduced in fall 1969 for the 1970 model year, the Challenger was one of two Chrysler E-body cars, the other being the slightly smaller Plymouth Barracuda. Positioned to compete against the Mercury Cougar and Pontiac Firebird in the upper end of the pony car market segment, it was a rather late response to the Ford Mustang, which debuted in April 1964. Even so, Chrysler intended the new Challenger as the most potent pony car ever, and like the less expensive Barracuda, it was available in a staggering number of trim and option levels, and with virtually every engine in Chryslers inventory. The Challengers longer wheelbase, larger dimensions, and more luxurious interior were prompted by the launch of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, likewise a bigger, more luxurious and more expensive pony car aimed at affluent young American buyers. Exterior design was penned by Carl Cameron, who was also responsible for the exterior designs of the 1966 Dodge Charger. This particularly well kept and amazing looking example sports a healthy 340 engine with a four-barrel carburetor putting out 275 horsepower, flanked by a 727 3 speed TorqueFlite transmission and a 3:23 rear end. The odometer is showing 23,129 miles and this vehicle also comes with an AM 8 track radio, seat belts, radial raised white letter tires, gorgeous Rallye wheels, vinyl interior, power brakes, positraction, dual sport side mirrors, hood pins, and a rim blow steering wheel horn. Do not miss out on owning this super clean, sweet riding piece of Dodge history! Description:

For sale in our Chicago showroom is this stunning Inferno Orange Metallic 2011 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS/RS. The 6.2 liter aluminum V8 engine produces just over 400 horsepower… in factory form. This Camaro was originally a demo model for the first 6,600 miles or so, until it was purchased by the first titled owner. The modifications immediately began, and the power level just kept climbing. The project started innocent enough, with an exhaust system and an aftermarket camshaft to eliminate the finicky displacement on demand feature that is known to have lifters fail. Soon enough, the car was capable of running low 10-second times in the ¼ mile legally at the strip. Air is pulled in through the Heritage badgeless grille, working its way into the intake tract before being stuffed through the 2.8L Mammoth Kenne Bell supercharger. It is force-fed through the worked-over cylinder heads, then back out through the Stainless Works long-tube headers into the Stainless Works exhaust making an incredible sound, and an estimated 600+ rwhp. While the factory 6L80E 6-speed automatic would have handled the power for a while, the decision was made to upgrade it to aftermarket 6L90E specifications with a PATC transmission upgrade kit to avoid any potential future issues. All of the work into that engine does no good if it can’t get put to the ground effectively. As the old adage goes “Spinnin’ ain’t winnin’.” One of the first sets of PFADT Stage 1 Drag Racing Kit was installed to help eliminate wheel hop and stop the control arms from twisting, allowing for a more effective and safer launch. A set of Weld rims wrapped in sticky Mickey Thomson tires really brings the 60’ times down, and the aftermarket chassis stiffeners keep the body from twisting itself into a pretzel. Pop the trunk and see the custom ice tank/fuel cell combo and Optima red top battery. Stepping inside the cabin and nestle yourself in the Corbeau seats with Recaro 5-point harnesses and you will already feel the adrenaline pumping. The Roll cage will keep you safe from any potential mishaps, either on the road or on the racetrack. This modern-muscle has had a full race treatment, but was designed to maintain its streetability as much as possible. Options include: Air-Conditioning (available, but not installed), AM/FM/CD Player. Cruise Control, GPS, Power Brakes, PowerSteering, Power Locks, Power Sunroof, Power Windows, Anti-Lock Brakes, Tilt/Telescopic Steering Wheel, Traction Control, Keyless Entry, Seat Belts, Drivers/Passengers Airbag, Anti-Theft System, Cloth Interior, and Racing Wheels. For more information on this beautifully functional 2011 Camaro SS/RS, contact our Chicago showroom at (708) 444-4488.
