Description:

Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to present a selection of gas dragsters Gassers for sale by our Indianapolis showroom. This one is a 1962 Chevrolet Nova based C/Gas dragster, and is powered by a 383 stroker driving through a manual valve body TH400 transmission to a 12 bolt positraction rear with 4.11:1 gears. The steel body is painted in red PPG paint and the interior is complete with rollcage, racing seats, and a racing harness. Here is some history for those who would like background on this exciting style of dragster. The term Gasser refers to a style of drag race car that was prolific in the late 1950s through the 1960s that ran on gasoline as fuel, as opposed to race fuel. These cars typically competed in heads up drag races that were classed by engine size and car weight. In the faster classes the cars used a straight axle front suspension that produced the intimidating stance that gassers are known for. Easily recognized by common features like the higher front end stance that was developed as a means of weight transfer to the rear wheels for traction, this style became popular later as builders attempted to achieve a traditional or nostalgic race look. These cars became fan favorites as the well-known racers began to run grudge matches for higher purses. In no time these matches were the top billing at many shows due to the crowd entertainment factor. Gassers were the top drag racing classes in the period that is now referred to as the gasser war years, which ranged from 1955 through 1968.In addition to the straight axle, most gassers also sported Halibrand wheels, no front bumper, and had a front mounted Moon tank. The gasser form was dictated by function and most builders looked to eliminate as much weight as possible. Having their exhaust pipes exit through the front fender to shorten the length of exhaust tubing is another common characteristic of gassers. Builders used 1930s through 1950s production coupes or sedans to create these highly modified racing vehicles. Late model cars were not allowed in the Gas classes until 1967, and the gas classes were totally eliminated by NHRA in 1972. They run today all over the United States and down under in Australia and New Zealand in vintage and nostalgia drags. To view this 1962 Chevrolet Nova gas dragster, please visit our site at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, call 317-688-1100, or email us at indy@gatewayclassiccars.com. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to offer this 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43. Produced from 1960 to 1984, the FJ43 is like an FJ40 for the person who craves a little extra cargo space. The FJ43s body is a foot longer than the FJ40! The FJ43 evolved from early Toyota BJ and J20 series 4x4s. These were copies of the classic US army Jeep during the Korean war. By 1960, Toyota had refined and perfected their recipe for the 4x4 runabout formula and deemed the FJ43 suitable for world export. This lovely Red FJ43 comes to us by way of Columbia and still powering it is the original numbers matching gasoline inline six-cylinder engine and mated to the original 3 speed manual with 4WD. This Truck appears to be blessed with a frame off restoration from top to bottom, inside and out. The old factory, canvas soft-top was replaced with a gray one that has the availability to roll open the side curtains for the rear passengers. The red painted exterior, gray top and painted gray accent pieces, became a combination that catches the eye and looks period correct. With a flick of the key, the 6-cylinder engine roars to life and pulls this little 4x4 down the road with minimal fuss. Its a plucky little truck with a borderline agricultural feel as it takes you back to that only the essentials driving experience FJ43s are known for. Its rugged, reliable, and has classic good looks! Everything youd want is a vintage 4x4! This 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 is for sale by our Atlanta Showroom and can be viewed in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. For additional information, please call our knowledgeable staff at (678)-894-4833 or email us at Atlanta@GatewayClassicCars.com. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to offer a rugged 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45. Toyota sits in the off road enthusiasts hall of fame thanks to this vehicle. Toyota rolled out the FJ40 series in 1960 and competed with the likes of Land Rovers, Jeeps, and later the Ford Bronco and Chevrolet K10. The FJ45 was a rugged, two door, 4x4 vehicle with amazing off road capabilities, and rather primitive interior treatments. The hard top is removable so open air cruising is a possibility. FJs came without carpet, and with vinyl upholstery so even if youre out in the mud and in the elements, theyre easy to keep clean. Under the hood of this particular Land Cruiser youll find the venerable Toyota 2F 4.2L Inline 6 with 3 Speed Manual on the floor and a 4x4 transfer case. Stout axles front and rear and BFG off-road tires will take this thing just about anywhere you want to go. With a restoration done in 2009, This off-road gladiator now sports power steering. This FJ would make a great weekend runabout or a daily driver, and will put most new 4x4s to shame off pavement. Vintage 4x4s are in high demand, and most have rusted away to nothing. Luckily this Toyota has been well preserved and is ready for many more years of duty. You can see this 1973 Toyota FJ45 Land Cruiser for sale in greater detail in our Dallas showroom. The engine was balanced, and blue printed with additions including World Heads, Eldelbrock performer manifold and cam, 8,5-1 forged pistons, milled Holley 650d.p., OEM dual point distributor, OEM low profile chrome valve covers and rare cast iron performance exhaust manifolds. The transmission is a rebuilt C-4. All attached to the rear wheels with a Ford 8 3.55 Strange, Auburn posi rear end. The suspension has been completely gone through with all new upper and lower arms, tie rods, idler arm, center link, sway bar bushing, new leaf springs w/ weld-on traction masters and a rebuilt steering box. Brakes have been rebuilt station wagon drum brakes. Lastly, a ceramic coated exhaust with iron headers, 2 1/2 pipe, X-crossing and competition mufflers gives this Falcon a great sound. This shiny red 1964 Ford Falcon convertible is a site to behold. A build designed to magnify its originality in appearance, but with one turn of the key it is obvious this not your ordinary 1964 Falcon.

Description:

Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is excited to offer this deep sapphire blue metallic 1973 Chevrolet Camaro for sale. Youll want to park this one outside on sunny days to admire the gleaming blue paint for a while before you start your trips! This beast isnt all show, however. Under the hood lurks a BluePrint Engines 383 CID Stroker V8 thats been dynoed as plenty potent! Putting out 450.8 HP at 5900 RPM and 462.3 Lb/Ft torque at 4400 RPM, this one is set up to land right on the torque peak at your shift points. The torque curve is relatively flat throughout the RPM range, so it feels like it has near jet-like acceleration - just a non-stop smooth rush of power. An MSD Atomic fuel injection system and HEI distributor supply the fuel and spark, respectively. Heat-wrapped Tri-Y headers scavenge the exhaust from the aluminum heads, and dump into the custom dual exhaust, which provides that muscle car sound youre craving. A massive aluminum radiator with twin thermostatically controlled fans helps keep things cool in the potent 383. Nearly everything under hood is polished or chromed, which really makes the engine bay look as good as the car goes! Behind the 383 is a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission that is a blast to row through the gears with. Youll be glad that you have power brakes, with slotted and drilled discs at all 4 corners, because youll want to get back to legal speeds quickly when youve forgotten that there are speed limits out there...This 1973 Camaro sits on Goodyear Eagle F1 performance radials, which encircle the massive Ridler aluminum wheels. Up front, youll find 245/40ZR18s and out back are some meaty 305/35ZR20s, which provide traction and that cool staggered look. Inside, the vintage interior has received some tasteful functional upgrades. Starting with a set of AutoMeter Carbon Fiber UltraLite gauges to keep the driver informed, and leather wrapped Momo steering wheel to enhance the drivers control, its an awesome cockpit to be in charge of. The black interior is fresh, including the carpet and custom low-back synthetic leather seating. A custom and functional full-length console is equipped with cupholders for all 4 occupants, which adds a nice touch. Vintage Air supplies year-round passenger comfort and climate control, and a custom subwoofer enclosure in the trunk enhances the sound put out by the stereo system. Additional features and options on this classic 1973 Chevrolet Camaro for sale include Air Conditioning, Aluminum Wheels, Keyless Entry, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, Tilt Wheel, and Vinyl Seating. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Denver welcomes this ORIGINAL 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible! The Ford car was thoroughly updated in 1941, in preparation for a time of unpredictability surrounding World War II. The 1941 design would continue in an aborted 1942 model year and would be restarted in 1946 and produced until 1948 when the more modern 1949 Fords were ready. During the initial year of this car, it evolved considerably. The front fenders came in three pieces, the theory being that small damages could be replaced easily. During the year, it evolved into two pieces with the lower front and back sections being joined. The hood risers changed, the early ones being the same as 1940 Fords, changing during the year to the better later version. The 1941 Convertible had no rear side windows, the only side windows being in the doors; in 1942, quarter windows were added so the rear occupants could see out. Five different coil/distributor arrangements were used during 1941, causing confusion for mechanics. Other variations were: two different positions for the generator, and three for the cooling fan — front of the crankshaft, front of the generator (rare) and on a bracket. This is thought to be the first Ford to offer an oil filter. The two interior heaters were a Southwind gasoline burner, which had the advantage of keeping one warm in winter at drive-in movies (provided a small electric fuel pump was used), and a more ordinary hot-water type. Both had window defrosters. It had an great radio, which could consume the battery in about two hours. Electric windshield wipers were available in addition to the vacuum-powered wipers. Three different convertible power top mechanisms (vacuum, electric screw, and hydraulic) and two different header bar latching systems were used. Rear suspensions sometimes had a sway bar, most did not. It had great brakes and among the most notable handling of ordinary cars of the time. It served a transitional role in Fords lineup The ignition key for these cars was actually used to operate a bolt lock which, on one end, unlocked the steering column (a feature destined to return, mandated, decades later), and on the other end unblocked the ignition switch, allowing it to be operated. Starting the car was then accomplished by pressing a pushbutton on the dashboard, another feature destined to return with the advent of smart keys. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to present a collection of gas dragsters Gassers in our Indianapolis showroom. This one, Morris Monster a 1958 Morris Minor based A/Gas dragster, is powered by a big block 454 Chevrolet fed by dual four barrel carburetors on a tunnel ram intake driving through a manual valve body TH400 transmission. Beautiful blue custom metallic paint really makes this handmade Gasser pop in the sun. To view this gas dragster, please visit our site at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, call 317-688-1100, or email us at indy@gatewayclassiccars.com. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is proud to offer this sought-after 1964 Studebaker Avanti for sale on consignment with our Arizona showroom, located in North Phoenix. The Avanti was one of the fastest and most advanced American vehicles ever made when it hit showroom floors in 1962. The orders came flying in but Studebakers problem was they couldnt keep pace with demand. The Avanti had a complex fiberglass body construction that required more time and skilled labor to produce than customers had patience for. Buyers grew tired of waiting and canceled their orders, meanwhile parent company Studebakers financial woes and death spiral continued to worsen. The short 18-month production run for the Avanti ended in December 1963 with less than 5,000 cars built in total- this car would have been built in late 63 but titled as a 1964. This car is painted in Black and has all kinds of design quirks from the curved sides, coke-bottle beltline and a jacked up rear end that gave the car a wedge-like profile from the side. It has a European grand tourer look that many American-made cars at the time were struggling to replicate. For power, Studebaker pulled the 289 CID V8 engine straight from its Hawk and in naturally aspirated form like this car it would have put out around 240 factory rated horsepower. The engine pulls strong in every gear and the transmission (a 4-speed manual) is easy to use with a light clutch. The throaty mufflers with dual exiting pipes really help this car sound as good as it looks and turn a lot of heads. The interior of the Avanti is a design feat on its own! The Black vinyl seating to the ornamental steering wheel, woodgrain accents and the upscale center console and gauge cluster; its all ergonomically pleasing and well ahead of its time. Theres even a functional cubby to access the trunk compartment in the back seats- probably a nod to the “family element of this 4-passenger car so the kids could access the cooler in the trunk while driving! You already know that this 1964 Studebaker is worth taking a look at for collectability alone. Just wait until you get behind the wheel though; youll have a hard time staying away from driving it! Give our helpful and knowledgeable Sales staff a call today and make this 409 all yours today at (623) 900-4884 to reserve your spot in the drivers seat.
