Description:

For sale in our Nashville showroom is a one of a kind 1940 Studebaker Commander. This 1940 Studebaker Commander for sale is an incredible find with less than 1500 miles on this car, that’s right less than fifteen hundred, this car is like a time capsule and has spent a year in the Studebaker museum. This 164.3CID I6 had all the ground pounding power for the day packing a punch with 80 full horses under the hood. The smooth clean lines of this car show Studebaker’s forward thinking and just seeing one for the first time on the showroom you would instantly know it was bound to become a classic. Open the door to this 1940 Studebaker for sale and air from 1940 rushes out. Inside this car you will find liberal use of bakelite (or polyoxybenzylmethenglycolanhydride ) this was an early form of plastic and expensive for the day and reserved for the finer things in life. The gauges have clean faces and are easy to read, none are faded and full of dust like a lot of classic cars that have not been restored. This 1940 Commander for sale is not perfect but it sure looks great for being 77 years old and once again, only 1413 actual miles. I have put more miles than that on a car in a week. Let’s see, 77 years old and only 1413 miles so that is how many miles per year, divide by 3.14, carry the 1, that’s 18.35 miles a year! The owner of this car, (only the third) states that all the body panels are original. The inline flat head six cylinder starts and runs like new and purrs like a tiger. Riding on wide white wall Bias ply tires this 1940 Commander looks like it just took a ride on H.G. Wells Time machine. So, if you are looking for a classic car that looks like a million, runs great and you are only planning on driving it about 18 miles a year, this is your car. Options for this 1940 Studebaker Commander include: Cloth interior and wide white wall bias ply tires and 1413 miles! A $237.37 document fee will be added to the sales price. All purchases may be subject to any applicable tax, title, & licensing fees. For more information call the Nashville showroom at 615-213-1800 or send us an email nashville@gatewayclassiccars.com

Car / Truck

Vehicle Type: 2 door

Condition: not specified

Engine: 216 CI, 6 cylinder

Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive

Transmission: Manual three speed manual on the column

Conversions / Upgrades: not specified

Description:

It would appear that the paint is original, especially based on the paint thickness, however, based on the trim tag, original color was Battleship Grey, so the car had a very thorough repaint at some point in its life.

The engine does turn and everything under the hood and the front suspension is still damp, so things are pretty freed up.

The garage door is broken and will need some work to get it up, hence the reason for no outside full "beauty shots".

She does have full instrumentation, an option; a cigarette lighter, another option; defroster, yet another option; a back seat heater... very special option.

The engine is the standard 216 CI, 6 cylinder, mated to a three speed manual on the column, pulled to a halt by 4 drum brakes. It has coil spring independent front suspension and a live sprung rear axle, which still has the spring wraps in place.

Interior is tan cloth, with fake wood trim and a bit of Bakelite... which is still in good shape, not brittle or chipping/flaking.

Odometer states just 49000 miles, could be realistic.

The black paint is in rather good shape too. A couple chips here and there and some small scrapes on the left rear quarter. I think she'd polish up pretty well and the chrome too.

The current owner is a 92 year old woman and she has a number that I think is a bit too high. I'm going to start the asking at $8000 as she did tell me she wasn't sure on her number...

For more info and many more pictures of this car please visit my website: http://www.autoarcheologist.com/discoveries.html

Thank you for the interest.

Description:

Gateway Classic Cars proudly presents this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with the original 327 cubic inch V8 with a 4 speed transmission. This car has been mildly modified with hardened valve seats to accommodate the use of unleaded fuel and has a Flowmaster exhaust. Painted in 2014 in the current beautiful medium gray metallic, the finish shows a glassy smoothness. After the introduction of the C2 Corvette in 1963, in 1964 Chevrolet made only evolutionary changes to the Corvette. Besides the coupes backbone window, the two simulated air intakes were eliminated from the hood, though their indentations remained. Also, the decorative air-exhaust vent on the coupes rear pillar was made functional, but only on the left side, the fuel filler/deck emblem gained concentric circles around its crossed-flags insignia. Inside, the original color-keyed steering wheel rim was now done in simulated walnut. A few suspension refinements were made for 1964. The front coil springs were changed from constant-rate to progressive or variable-rate and were more tightly wound at the top, while leaf thickness of the rear transverse spring was also altered thus providing a more comfortable ride with no sacrifice in handling. Shock absorbers were reworked toward the same end. Chevy added more sound insulation and revised body and transmission mounts for the 1964 Corvette. It also fitted additional bushings to quiet the shift linkage and placed a new boot around the lever. The result was a more livable car for everyday transportation. If enthusiast publications liked the first Sting Ray, they loved the 1964. To view this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette, please visit our site at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, call 317-688-1100, or email us at indy@gatewayclassiccars.com.
