Description:

Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to present a collection of gas dragsters “Gassers” for sale in our Indianapolis showroom. This one, “Horse Trader”, is a 1948 Austin sedan body on a custom frame powered by a 383 stroker driving through a 400 Turbo manual valve body transmission. It is a B/Gas dragster with a 9” Ford Posi rear end with a 4.11:1 ratio. It is painted a deep red metalflake with gold lettering on the outside, and the black interior has a full roll cage with racing seats and harness. Here is some history for those who would like background on this exciting style of dragster. The term “Gasser” refers to a style of drag race car that was prolific in the late 1950s through the 1960s that ran on gasoline as fuel, as opposed to race fuel. These cars typically competed in “heads up” drag races that were classed by engine size and car weight. In the faster classes the cars used a straight axle front suspension that produced the intimidating stance that gassers are known for. Easily recognized by common features like the higher front end stance that was developed as a means of weight transfer to the rear wheels for traction, this style became popular later as builders attempted to achieve a traditional or nostalgic race look. These cars became fan favorites as the well-known racers began to run “grudge matches” for higher purses. In no time these matches were the top billing at many shows due to the crowd entertainment factor. Gassers were the top drag racing classes in the period that is now referred to as “the gasser war years,” which ranged from 1955 through 1968.In addition to the straight axle, most gassers also sported Halibrand wheels, no front bumper, and had a front mounted Moon tank. The gasser form was dictated by function and most builders looked to eliminate as much weight as possible. Having their exhaust pipes exit through the front fender to shorten the length of exhaust tubing is another common characteristic of gassers. Builders used 1930s through 1950s production coupes or sedans to create these highly modified racing vehicles. The most common base vehicles were Willys coupes, Austin and Anglia sedans, and the Chevy Tri-Five cars. Late model cars were not allowed in the Gas classes until 1967, and the gas classes were totally eliminated by NHRA in 1972. They run today all over the United States and down under in Australia and New Zealand in vintage and nostalgia drags. To view this gas dragster, please visit our site at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, call 317-688-1100, or email us at indy@gatewayclassiccars.com. This beauty is powered by a strong running 302 CID V8 and has been very well maintained through the years. The engine is paired with a 3-speed manual transmission which in this case is referred to “3 on the tree. Description:

Now for sale in our Houston showroom is this awesome red 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS tribute. This big block Chevy-powered droptop is so much better than when it was new! For starters, the car was completely disassembled except for the rear window mechanism area. This frame-off overhaul included having the inner frame treated with corrosion inhibitor. This car floor pans and body panels were in pretty good shape with only minor surface rust, which was removed when the restoration was underway. The floor pans and the rest of the undercarriage, plus the firewall, were taken down to bare metal, completely prepped, treated, and painted with Por15 rust preventer paint. The front-end frame assembly was replaced with a powder-coated TCI Camaro front clip; which included a lighter, stronger K-member and tubular control arms, as well as an adjustable coil-over front suspension was installed. In addition, disk brakes, power rack and pinion steering, and integrated transmission mount were added. The transmission is a Muncie M21 4-speed, with upgraded new gears and bearings installed, and is now rated to an M22 Rock Crusher transmissions specs. The rear end is a GM 12 bolt, housing all new bearings and gears, with a 3.73:1 ring and pinion. The rear was also fitted with a TCI 4-bar rear suspension system with coil-over shocks and disk brakes. The 396 375HP Chevy Engine acquired for this Camaro is a match for a 1968 Model SS Camaro. 1968 L78 396 375 HP Block, 4 bolt Main #3916323, dated Jan 8, 1968, Stamping T0206EG Heads: 3919840, both dated Jan 12, 1968 Distributor: 1111170 dated 7M28 (December 28,1967) Intake: 3933163 Date (month?) 281968 Crankshaft: 6223 (Forged Steel w/std main rods and journals) 8 Harmonic Balancer & Correct Timing Cover with Timing Tabs Original Chevy Camaro Oil Pan Original Valve covers with drippers. The cam is a 396/375 HP blueprint solid lifter cam. (same spec as the original GM Grind), with .520/.520 lift, 316* intake/302* exhaust @. 242*/242* @.050, 111* lobe separation. The pistons are factory replacements, providing an 11:1 compression ratio. Inside, youll find that the black synthetic leather interior is in excellent shape, and nearly everything looks (and feels) like new. Other than the doors, rear body, firewall, window frames and window mechanisms, seats, and some minor parts; the rest of the car is new. New suspension, tires, rims, chrome bumpers, front fenders and wheel wells, radiator, hood, handles, lights, trim, emblems, wiring, upholstery, carpet, gas tank and straps, fuel lines, brake lines, brakes (upgraded to disc), air conditioning, and much more. The majority of these items were purchased from Classic Industries. It is basically a new car with less than 100 miles on it! The philosophy in building this car, was to modernize the suspension, make it a safer and more reliable to drive, but keep the car looking like it just came out of the factory in 1968. Description:

Now for sale in our Houston Showroom is this sleek 1934 Ford Phaeton. 1934 was the year of Flash Gordan Comics, Naming the baseball, and the production of Ford Phaetons. This beautiful 34 Ford Phaeton came from NASCAR driver Dick Carters private collection. The car is from Arizona and has been restored into this beautiful Street Rod. Powered by a Chevrolet 327 CID V8 tied to a Holley Single 4 Barrel she can go without much of a struggle! The engine has been paired up to a TH350 Automatic transmission, so cruising is the beauty is simple. Something cool about the car is that the frame is believed to be original from 1934! Of course, it has been boxed and strengthened to withstand the years to come. The suspension has been kept like what it would have been when this car was built from the factory. The front suspension is set up with a transverse leaf spring, with standard leaf springs in the rear. The power of the Phaeton is transferred through the 10-bolt rear end which features 3:10 gearing. The brake system was updated as well with discs on front while leaving drums in the rear. Other added components include: Uni-lite distributor, new master cylinder, third brake light, and coated exhaust manifolds. The dual exhaust is a bonus to the car giving it a nice town which will get a few heads turned your way. Painted in a beautiful 2-tone red and black this car truly is something worth taking a 2nd look at. The running boards of the car are steel, while the fenders are fiberglass. The top is a beautiful beige color and can be kept on or removed for those beautiful summer events. Complimenting the beige top is the 15 spoked wheels that are in great condition. One thing you certainly wont forget about this car is the beautifully large chrome grille, with the nicely added dog statue. Upon entering this cool classic, you will notice this car features the unique suicide doors. What is crazy is that many people dont know why they are called “suicide doors. The reason is simple, if the door were to swing open while driving and you reach to catch it, the wind and force would pull you from the vehicle essentially committing “suicide. By no means am I saying this will happen in this car, its merely where the term came from. The interior features new gauges, tilt column, period correct leather interior that is in good condition, and a spacious back seat for the family. For more information on this 1934 Ford Phaeton for sale, to see all the HD pictures and videos of it, copy the URL below, and see it at this direct link: http://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/show/HOU/1520 . The Z06 arrived as a 2006 model in the third quarter of 2005 and is the lightest of all Corvette models. The Z06 was equipped with the largest-displacement small-block engine ever produced, a new 7,011 cc (7.0 L; 427.8 cu in) V8 engine named LS7 produced 505 bhp @ 6300 rpm and 470 lb·ft of torque @ 4800 rpm, is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine put into a production car from General Motors. In addition to the larger displacement engine, the Corvette Z06 has a dry sump oiling system, and connecting rods made out of titanium alloy. The frame of the Z06 is constructed from aluminum, saving 136 pounds over the standard steel frame. Other weight saving measures such as balsa wood/carbon fiber composite floors and a magnesium alloy engine cradle were used. The Z06s body differentiates itself from the standard Corvette with its larger front and rear fenders and an intake inlet scoop on the front bumper. The front fenders are constructed with carbon fiber and the rear fenders contain ducts to aid in cooling the rear brakes. The Z06 weighed 3,130 lb giving it a weight to power ratio of 6.2 pounds per horsepower, allowing it to achieve a fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The Z06 was the official pace car for both the 2006 Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500 race. This one-owner example has only 2,838 actual miles and is basically a new car. The Velocity Yellow Tintcoat paint is in great condition and looks new as well. The black interior is flawless and looks as if it was never even sat in. The Z06 contains the following enhancements over the standard C6 Corvette: Hand-built LS7 7.0L / 427 CID V8 with dry sump oiling system, Aluminum chassis with fixed roof, Larger/stiffer anti-sway bars, Stiffer springs and shocks, Larger rear spoiler and front splitter, Transmission cooler, Unique front fascia with intake inlet, Wider carbon fiber front and fiberglass rear fenders, Functional front and rear brake ducts for added brake system cooling, Unique light weight forged aluminum 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels; painted finish standard and chromed finish optional, Wider 275/35ZR18 tires in the front and wider 325/30ZR19 tires in the rear, Larger 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, including cross-drilled 355 mm (14.0 in) front rotors and 340 mm (13 in) rear rotors. Description:

Now available in our Dallas Showroom is this beautiful 1955 Chevrolet 210! In 1955 the first McDonalds were being erected, Coca-Cola was starting to be offered in cans (previously had been glass bottles only), RocknRoll was just beginning to hit its stride with legends such as Chuck Berry & Elvis Presley, and this beautiful 210 was being completed! Now this 210 has undergone a recent restoration in the past years and shows just as beautifully as it would of rolling off the factory line with a few upgrades. The restoration is still very fresh as this vehicle has only accumulated approximately, 1,000 miles on the since the restoration was completed. Painted a period correct turquoise and white, its certainly stands out and is sure to grab the attention of many eyes as you past them either cruising down the highway or around town. If the color doesnt catch their attention, then perhaps the 355 CID V8 motor will. Flex your foot, give it a bit of gas, watch the eyes of those around you widen, & listen to that engine purr out of the ceramic coated exhaust. The 355 CID V8 is connected to a TR400 3-speed automatic shifter, which suits the vehicle well and makes shifting through the gears a breeze. The interior is very comfortable, made from vinyl, and was made to mimic the original, matching the color on the exterior of turquoise and white both on the dash and seats. The only standout difference to the interior from factory is the addition of a set of Autometer Gauges placed underneath the steering-wheel, except for the RPM gauge, which sits above, Vintage Air A/C unit, and a B&M shifter unit in the center floorboard. This vehicle is completed with 4-wheel disc brakes and sits on a set of Weld Racing wheels. Options include: A/C, AM-only radio, Power Brake, Power Steering, & Tilt Wheel. This 1955 Chevrolet 210 is for sale in our Dallas-Fort Worth showroom and can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Description:

Our Detroit Showroom is proud to offer the king of the muscle cars. This 1965 Pontiac GTO is a great example of what American Muscle is all about. GTO’s are what legends are made of and when the Pontiac GTO was introduced to America in September 1963, it created an entirely new market segment that sparked a reaction throughout the auto industry. Today we know that reaction as the muscle-car era. By 1966, all the domestic automobile manufacturers had their response to the GTO. Some were good, some were hastily slapped together, and others missed the mark altogether. It could be argued that none of them possessed the combination of performance, style, image, and affordability of the GTO. This Tri-Power 389ci V-8 is mated to 4 speed manual transmission. This combination is the one you want and really puts the power to the pavement. Some nice upgrades include the MSD 6AL ignition, tubular headers w/ dual flowmaster exhaust. This GTO looks very aggressive in beautiful Red with Black vinyl interior and is set off by its chrome Cragar wheels and redline tires. If you are looking for the iconic muscle car that started it all, this GTO is ready for your collection. For more information including over 120HD photos and video, visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com . Description:

This 1962 Dodge Max Wedge Tribute is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 62 Line up for Dodge had there own defined look making them highly collectible today. Not to mention the big and powerful engine you could get in on of these intermediate size cars. In 1962 the now infamous Wedge cars were released and put everyone on notice. With there 413 CI engine and massive cross ram intakes were literally taking the strips by storm. This example is sure to bring you back to this magical days when Dodge pretty much owned the drag strips. Start with the black paint which is slick while showing off those one of a kind lines. The multiple coats of clear laid on top gives it not only a mirror finish but almost a 3D look. Lets get down to why you really want this beast of a car. Pop the hood and an ultra- rare 413 Ramcharger lies cradled between the frame rails. The crossram intake is correct and not a cheap part by any means but gives it that I mean business look while gaining a good bit of power. Matched up to a 727 HD torque flite this thing is ready for the street or strip. Open the door and period correct interior is comfortable while looking nice. Yet still the best and coolest thing about this car has to be the push button trans which is as simple as putting in D and slamming the gas. Just make sure your holding on because if this monster hooks up you will be in for a ride you will soon not forget. Options on this 1962 Dodge Dart 413 Cross Ram car include Radio Delete, Cloth/Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, and Radial Tires. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to present a collection of gas dragsters “Gassers” for sale in our Indianapolis showroom. This one, “Morris Monster” a 1958 Morris Minor based A/Gas dragster, is powered by a big block 454 Chevrolet fed by dual four barrel carburetors on a tunnel ram intake driving through a manual valve body TH400 transmission. Beautiful blue custom metallic paint really makes this handmade Gasser pop in the sun. Description:

Up for sale in our Tampa showroom is this sharp 1969 F40 Red Chevrolet C10 Resto-Mod. As you can see from the pictures this gorgeous C10 has been restored from the ground up. Starting with: RideTech Air Ride on all four corners, monstrous Willwood brake system, slotted and cross drilled rotors up front, slotted rotors in the back, six piston front calipers, four piston rears. Youll be glad to have those massive brakes when you let loose all the horses of the 434 CID Custom Dart V8. With only 700 miles on the motor since the build. Backed by a four speed 700R4 automatic transmission, linked up to a 12-bolt 3.73 rear end. Hop inside this beautiful second gen. C10 and youll notice the custom work continues with the bench seat and the Velocity gauges. Originally a 327 CID V8 engine was dropped in 1969 in favor of the 350 CID variant rated at 255 gross HP. Along with the new engines came a new grille design for Chevrolet trucks and a more upright hood for both Chevrolet and GMC trucks. A utility variant, known as the K5 Blazer, was also introduced with a shorter wheelbase of 104 inches. The GMC version, known as the Jimmy, was introduced the same year. Some internal cab changes were also made, most notably the switch from a hand-operated parking brake to a foot pedal, and a more modern looking two-spoke steering wheel with plastic horn button replaced the previous years three-spoke wheel with chrome horn button. Also new this year were upper and lower side moldings, which added another two-tone paint option. These were standard on CST trucks, and optional in any other trim level.
