Description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Denver welcomes this 1987 Buick Gran National! The turbo V-6 story goes all the way back to 1973 when Ken Baker, a young engineer in Buicks test lab (he would later lead General Motors electric-vehicle program, then its research labs), started a Boy Scout Explorer program at the Buick engineering department. I decided that a great project would be to turbocharge the recently revived V-6 with the capability of performance in lighter cars or fuel economy in larger cars, he relates. We begged, borrowed, and scrounged parts to build a dyno engine, then got a scrap Skylark and married the two. That project involved many engineers giving seminars to the [Scout] kids regarding their areas of expertise . . . and a car that was a blast to drive. The significant improvement was in 1986, when Ron Yuille and the Turbo Engine Group engineered an intercooler for the 3.8 Turbo SFI V-6, wrote Martyn L. Schorr in his book, Buick GNX. With a new two-piece aluminum intake manifold that increased airflow by 10 percent, the engine was rated at 235 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque for 86, then 245 horsepower and 355 lb-ft for 87. Car and Drivers April 1986 review began: Corvette, get outa town. Mustang, move over. Camaro, keep your back to the wall at all times. The biggest, baddest gun west of the Pecos is loose in the streets, and theres gonna be some shootin…. C/D clocked a 4.9-second zero-to-60-mph run, quicker than a contemporary Corvette, most U.S.-market Ferraris, and even the Lamborghini Countach. Its quarter-mile was also impressive at 13.9 seconds. But C/Ds tech team calculated that the test cars engine was actually pumping out something like 290 horses versus the advertised 235, so it may have been tweaked by Buick engineers. Ed Mertz became Buick general manager in 1986, and GMs aging rear-wheel-drive mid-sizers ceased production in 1987 to be replaced by new GM10 front-drive models for 1988. But Buick extended its Grand National build through the end of that year to satisfy demand. A total of 20,740 GNs were built for 1987 (versus 5512 in 1986). Of those, exactly 547 would be converted to GNXs. (Source: Car and Driver, Gary Witzenberg) Dont miss your opportunity to own a piece of American Muscle history in our Denver Showroom. It can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and a HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Gateway Classic Cars of Denver is honored to offer this snarling 2000 Ford F150 SVT Lightning. This menacing Lightning roars to life with its all new fully built 5.4L V8. This SVT Lightning rumbles the earth with a symphony bellowing from the trick flow headers, complemented by the hellacious wine of the Kenne Bell supercharger packing stage 2 blower cams for more airflow and power. However the real magic happens when this beast is unleashed on the track. At this point the 4:10 gears and posi-track differential make the distinct difference between a road car and this monstrous truck. Pumping out 440 horsepower and a tire burning 495 torque but once introduced to the nitrous being sprayed through the beautifully installed nitrous express system this truck will create a white knuckling 900 horsepower and a neck breaking 750 torque. With horse power numbers like these there is always worry about fuel delivery, that too has been addressed with a Lethal Performance lightning fuel system. Dont miss your opportunity to own this 2000 Ford SVT Lightning. Description:

Gateway Classic Cars is excited to present this 1977 Ford F100 for sale in the Milwaukee Showroom. Ford has had a legacy of building tough trucks that are known to stand up to any task, but this one takes the cake in terms of being able to handle ridiculous amounts of horsepower. From the moment you see this trucks hot-rodded appearance that includes a hot red paint job, shaved door handles, and a shaved and welded tailgate setting off a clean and aggressive look. The other thing one might notice is the air scoop with two exposed 4-barrel Holley Carburetors popping above the hood line making it painfully obvious that this truck means business. The rest of the engine is a 460 Big Block Ford that has been modified with aluminum heads, a tunnel ram intake manifold, headers, and a nitrous injection system courtesy of Zex Nitrous. This combination makes for a healthy excess of 600 horsepower which needs to have been held down by a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and transferred back to a Ford 9 rear axle featuring a 3:25 gear ratio. You put all this together, and you get on scary truck that has a mean exhaust tone to match from the exhaust being dumped before the rear axle. The F100 features power brakes, power steering, and an AM/FM radio making this truck capable of easy driving on the road. This 1977 Ford F100 is available at our Milwaukee Showroom at Gateway Classic Cars and can be seen at www.GatewayClassicCars.com which includes 100+ HD photos and HD video. To see the car in person, it can be seen at our Milwaukee Showroom located at 9949 58th Place Suite 400, Kenosha WI 53144. Description:

Available in our Dallas-Fort Worth showroom is this limited-edition 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am (TTA). This vintage Pontiac features a V-6 that managed to out-power all its contemporaries. The TTAs turbo-charged and intercooled OHV V-6 3.8-liter engine, which had earlier found fame in the Buick GNX, was very conservatively listed at 250 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque. By comparison, the Firebird Trans Am GTA from the same year only managed 235 horses from its larger and heavier 5.7-liter V-8. Only 1,555 20th Anniversary Trans Ams were built, all were white and featured four-speed transmissions. They were the official pace car of that years Indianapolis 500. Car and Driver praised the TTA for its collectability, citing the coupes limited production and speed. In the magazines test, the Pontiac hit the quarter mile in 13.4 seconds and topped out at 153 miles per hour. Even more impressive, they were the fastest accelerating production car sold in the U.S. at the time with a 0-to-60 of only 4.6 seconds. It drives like a normal 90s Firebird until you let into the throttle and once the boost from the turbo kicks in, it takes off. This particular TTA is number 711 of 1,555, shows only 23,880 miles, and only two previous owners. This car is a blast to drive! For more information on this 1989 20th Anniversary Pontiac Firebird for sale, please call the Dallas-Fort Worth showroom at (817) 310-9400, or email us at Dallas@GatewayClassicCars.com. Description:

Up for sale in our Detroit Showroom is a 1963 Mercury Comet Gasser named The Instigator. A gasser is a type of hot rod originating on the dragstrips all around the United States in the late 1950s and continued until the early 1970s. In the days before Pro Stock, the A/Gas cars were the fastest stock-appearing racers around. Gassers are based on closed body production models from the 1930s to mid-1960s, which have been stripped of extraneous weight and jacked up using a beam axle or tubular axle to provide better weight distribution on acceleration though a raised stock front suspension is common as well. This Gasser hasnt had much weight reduction done having the power hydraulic tilt front end which contains the 350 CID Chevy small block and TH 350 transmission. This dominant duo has less than 500 miles on the build and can rip pavement apart with one stab of the gas pedal. From a dead stop, the posi traction rear end with a 3.50 gear launch you forward like every strip of pavement is a dragstrip. The paint on this Gasser looks amazing and is completely custom throughout. The interior is a very clean and factory looking vinyl with a Hurst shifter and a few additional gauges that provide great comfort while manning this machine. If you have always wanted that attention grabbing ride that has left its footprint in automotive history, you need to drive a Gasser. There is no feeling that can compare to the thrill ride of moving a nostalgic monster through the streets.
