Lucky Costa is talented mechanic who has managed to get the attention of the Hot Rod video staff and Motortrend On Demand. I believe his first exposure on camera was on the show Overhaulin’. He has been a guest working with the likes of David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of the popular Motortrend On Demand show, Roadkill. He is now co-host of another Motortrend On Demand show, Hot Rod Garage with Tony Angelo, another talented guy….
Want something different? How about an Iraqi Taxi?
I was perusing the Wikipedia story of the Chevy Malibu and came across this odd little car. It’s a base model 4 door 1981 Malibu with a few important options. This car was theoretically intended to be used as taxi’s in Iraq. For this order, 25,500 were made with carbureted V-6’s, 3 speed manual transmissions, and bench seats. They also came with heavy duty cooling systems, air conditioning and the heavy duty F41 sport suspensions. Aaron Kaufman formerly of Fast & Loud has a new show! That’s good news for most of us. I’m a big fan of Aaron’s talents and I’m also looking forward to seeing more of Aaron on his new show, The Low Life Show, which specializes in custom builds….
Occasionally, there are miscommunications about car shows that were cancelled. This results in car enthusiasts being disappointed. The Knights of Columbus and Long Island Plymouth Car Club asked me to extend a heartfelt apology about one such miscommunication. Please see below:
This is a new idea that may turn into a regular feature on the blog, depending on how much people like it. The idea is to find a classic car in rough condition for sale and then do a Virtual Build. I may share it on Facebook but hopefully some of you will share your thoughts in our comments section here and not just on Facebook.
In this case I found a candidate right on our own classified page. This little gem can be yours for $5,500. Here’s the link (note: at some point the ad will expire and the link might not work): 1970 Monte Carlo for sale on Rubber Hits The Road
I’ve already come up with two ways to build this.

- As an all business bad-ass machine.
In both cases, contrary to my usual instincts, I would go with an automatic transmission. It fits with the luxury theme and also with the all business – ease of use concept too….
